Introduction

On November 2nd, Bandai made a significant decision concerning its One Piece Card Game. In an official tweet, the company announced substantial changes to the list of banned and restricted cards to combat the dominance of Red decks and the leader cards OP01-01 Roronoa Zoro, OP01-002 Trafalgar Law, and OP02-001 Edward Newgate. Despite previous restrictions, Bandai found that these decks continue to reign supreme in the game's metagame, necessitating more drastic measures to ensure a fair and diverse gaming experience for the entire One Piece Card Game community.

Necessary Changes for Game Balance

Bandai had already taken measures in July by restricting the cards OP01-01 Roronoa Zoro, OP01-002 Trafalgar Law, and OP02-001 Edward Newgate due to their excessive usage and high win rates in Red decks. However, despite these restrictions, these decks persisted in dominating the metagame. The company is committed to providing a more balanced and enjoyable gaming experience for its player base.

The New Banned and Restricted Cards

Effective from November 10th, three new cards will be added to the banned and restricted lists:

Banned Cards:

  • OP01-016 Nami
  • OP02-001 Edward Newgate
  • OP02-005 Curly.Dadan

Restricted Cards (1 per deck):

  • OP03-013 Marco

These new restrictions aim to further diversify the metagame, reduce the dominance of certain decks, and make the gaming experience more balanced for all players.

Towards a Balanced Future

Bandai also emphasized that these bans and restrictions are not set in stone and may be adjusted based on the evolution of the metagame and the release of new cards. They are committed to maintaining a healthy and fair gaming environment for the One Piece Card Game community.

Hard decision for Zoro Red and Law Green / Red Players.

Conclusion

This update of banned and restricted cards in the One Piece Card Game marks a significant step for Bandai in its quest for a balanced and diverse metagame. Players can now prepare for changes in their decks and new strategies to explore. Bandai remains dedicated to providing a quality gaming experience for its community and will closely monitor the metagame's evolution in the future.
