Tips and tricks of Red Zoro Rush One Piece Card Game

Hello there!

I'm excited to share a winning deck recipe from a recent meetup battle held at Madcap Gaming Philippines.

This deck, known as "Red Zoro Rush," proved to be the champion, and I'd like to provide some insights, tips, and tricks for using this deck effectively.

First off, let's take a look at the decklist by clicking on the image, and I'll delve into its matchups.

Matchups

1st Matchup - Blue Black Sakazuki

In this battle, my strategy was to apply constant pressure to my opponent. My objective was to gradually chip away at their life and deplete their hand cards by the 5th turn. Thanks to the searchers I deployed, my life remained untouched, and my opponent had to focus on defense due to the mounting pressure. The game-changing moment came when I acquired Diable Jambe through Buggy's effect.

2nd Matchup - Belo Betty

Facing Belo Betty, I understood the potential risk of losing life or characters due to the leader's effect. Despite going first, I played Buggy on my first turn. On the next turn, I introduced Dadan and Sanji C1. Small characters with 3000 power played a significant role, as they could be easily boosted, thanks to Zoro's leader effect. My opponent did manage to reduce my life, but I was saved by Jet Pistol and Firefist cost 3, which triggered from my life. Because my opponent concentrated on my life, I took advantage of the many small characters at my disposal, securing a victory.

3rd Matchup - Purple Luffy (Finals)

This final showdown involved facing Purple Luffy, who could accumulate Don in a few turns. To counter this, I introduced small characters on my turn to apply pressure by turn 5. My opponent was cautious in using the leader's effect, realizing how swiftly I could diminish their life and exhaust their hand cards. As their life dwindled and hand cards ran out, I seized the opportunity to play Luffy Rush. This made my attacks unblockable, and with 11,000 Power, I secured the win.

Zoro Deck in OP5 Meta

In this build, I employed the StrawHat Engine, which included 12 searchers to enhance deck consistency. Here are some key cards worth mentioning:

  • Sanji Cost 1 and Buggy: These 1-cost characters with 3000 power and 1000 counters offered valuable versatility and resource management.

  • Brook Cost 2: I replaced Sanji Cost 2 with Brook, as Brook's ability to boost characters by 2000 power and provide a 3000-power Body for the next turn proved more effective, especially in the mid to late game.

  • Magra: This card played a crucial role by boosting characters like Buggy or Sanji to 3000 Power and allowing swings with 7000 Power. Its inclusion, along with other 1-cost characters, contributed to deck consistency.

  • Dadan: Used in turn 3 to search for a cost 1 character with a 3000 body, Dadan was a reliable searcher with 3000 power and a 1000 counter.

  • Makino: Held for 5 to 7 turns, Makino proved essential for dealing with big bodies on the field or providing 2000 counters. Timing of its use was critical due to the deck's limited 2000 counters.

  • Bad Manners Kick Course: An excellent card to keep opponents guessing and plan their moves carefully. Leaving one Active Don in the opponent's turn for Radical Beam often caught them off guard, ensuring my survival.

  • Jet Pistol and Fire Fist Cost 3: These event cards were instrumental in removing blockers and characters with combo plays, and I capitalized on their trigger effects in the Belo Betty matchup.

  • Diable Jambe: While I included only one due to its early game limitations, I relied on Nami and Buggy to search it when needed, making it a formidable final blow card.

Remember, holding onto your searchers in the late game is vital for adapting to your opponent's strategies. Consistency is the key to success, so make sure you're prepared for various scenarios.
